Marie I. Maderos, 83, of Hiawatha, died unexpectedly Monday, January 2, 2017, at Vintage Park Assisted Living Apartments in Hiawatha.

Marie was born August 25, 1933, at Richmond, California, the only child Frank and Rita Caviggia Maderos. She grew up in the Richmond/San Jose area, where she attended school and was graduated from high school. Marie’s life work was volunteering and helping people, whether it was at in California, Williston, North Dakota, in Florida, or Hiawatha. She was a quiet, gentle, very generous person who was a pleasure to be around. She was the type of person who enjoyed giving and doing behind the scenes. Marie never had a bad word to say about anyone. Marie moved to Hiawatha a few years ago to be near good friends.

She was a very devout in her catholic faith, very faithful to her Churches in Williston, Florida, and at Hiawatha.

She was loved and will be missed by all her friends.

It was Marie’s wish to be cremated. A Memorial Mass in Marie’s memory will be held at a later date.

A memorial in Marie’s memory may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church, sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
