Ann Haverkamp

Ann Haverkamp, 88, of Corning passed away on February 5th, 2017 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca, KS.

She was born on April 3, 1928 on the family farm Northwest of Frankfort, the daughter of Joseph H and Mary Rottinghaus Lierz.  She attended Allison Rural School completing the 8th grade.  After school, she continued working on the family farm.  At the age of 17 she moved to Seneca to care for her Aunt and Uncle and worked in Seneca at Mealy Hy-klas  and doing a other ewvariety of jobs.

On September 20, 1949, she married the love of her life, Cletus Haverkamp at Annunciation Church at Frankfort.  They celebrated many wonderful anniversaries and were blessed with 67 years of marriage.

They made their home on a farm south of Corning for forty-eight years.  In 1997, they built a new home and moved into Corning.  She enjoyed volunteering at St Patrick’s Church, baking, gardening and working in her flowerbed.  She was a faithful wife, loving mother and devoted homemaker.  She gave of her time to her children giving them the gift of her strong faith in the Lord.  She was an amazing example of devotion to her family and to her Christian faith.  She also blessed her family with unconditional love and especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought her much joy.  She is survived by 24 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren and is expecting 3 additional great-grandchildren this year.    

Ann was a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church and St Patricks’ Alta Society devoting more than 25 years to washing and ironing altar linens, server gowns, and cleaning and preparing the altar for weekly mass.  She also served as President and Officer of the Altar Society.  For many years, Cletus and Ann prayed together at an hour of adoration each week.  
Besides her husband, she is survived by her family who watched over and loved her dearly.   Mary Ann (Harold) Brokamp of Corning, Dorothy (Harry) Taylor of Corning, Cleta Haverkamp of Corning, Monica (Mike) Shaughnessy of Silver Lake, Gary (Diane) Haverkamp of Corning, Vernon (Sue) Haverkamp of Corning, Galen Haverkamp of Topeka and Sharon Haverkamp of Corning; daughter-in-law Connie Haverkamp of Silver Lake; a sister, Rosanna Haverkamp of Goff.

Ann was preceded in death by a son Daniel E Haverkamp on June 28, 2014; five brothers, Henry, Cyril, Joseph, Raphael and Alvin; and three sisters, Gertrude Wilmot and Genevieve Lierz and Mary Christy.

Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 8, at St. Patrick’s Church at Corning. Rosaries will be prayed at 2 & 7 PM Tuesday, February 7, at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca.

Memorials may be given for St. Patrick’s Building Fundy, and sent in care of the family.
