Johnny Gene Yocum

Johnny Gene Yocum, 52, of St. Joseph, Missouri, died suddenly on February 4, 20117, at Mosaic Life Hospital in St. Joseph Missouri.

Johnny was born on July 9, 1964, in Beloit, Kansas to Oliver Owen and Lois Maxine Groves Yocum. He grew up in Sabetha and attended Sabetha High School. Johnny moved to Hiawatha after high school and joined the Kansas Nation Guard in September 11, 1981 and was discharged on September 11, 1989 as a PVT1.

Johnny married Frances McAuliffe on June 1, 1985 at the Assemble of God Church in Hiawatha. To this union was born his son Jonathan Tyler Yocum.

In 2005 Johnny went to work at the Armstrong Cabinet Factory in Auburn, Nebraska, the n in 2010 he went to work for a Lincoln Guards Security Company for a year. Then went to work for C.J. Foods.

Johnny went to California for a year to live with his son before returning to St. Joseph to work at the Casino.

Johnny had many hobbies and they were fishing, Movies, Boating and going to the casino and spending time with his son.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Alan.

He is survived by his son Tyler Yocum of Hanford, California; and his siblings David Yocum of Dawson, Nebraska, Grant Yocum of Carrolton, Texas, Rosie Ekpe of St. Joseph, Missouri, Brian Jones of Humboldt, Nebraska and Glenda Jones of St. Joseph, Missouri and 14 nieces and nephews.

The funeral Service will be Saturday February 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. A private burial will be later.
