(KAIR)--Rose Marie Miles, 93, a long-time Atchison resident, died Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson, KS.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour before service time. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Grant Fund for Trinity Lutheran School scholarships and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the arrangements. Rose Marie Icks was born on Dec. 9th, 1923 in Jarbalo, in Leavenworth County KS, the daughter of William F. and Julia (Brune) Icks. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1941 and was married to Clarence R. Miles on Dec. 24, 1942 in Atchison. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1976. She worked a number of years at Cardox.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church since the age of 5. She served on the building committee for the Education Building, member of Anna Circle, and was in the Kennedy Evangelism Program for 25 years. She volunteered many hours at the church. She also enjoyed sewing and worked with other woman of Trinity to make quilts for needy families overseas.

Survivors include a son, Daniel (Cathy) Miles, Lathrop, MO, three daughters, Connie Harris, Hutchinson, KS, Mary Fobes, Topeka, KS, and Linda Waugh, Lakewood, WA, a sister, Dorothy Talmon, Lincoln, NE., seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Clinton and Bill Icks, and son-in-laws Rod Fobes and Harold Harris.
