Ruth Ann Selland, 84, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Maple Heights Senior Living Center in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was born on August 22, 1932 in rural Robinson, Kansas the daughter of Jacob and Sudie Nottingham Jacobson. Ruth graduated from Willis High School on May 17, 1950. She was a homemaker and worked as a secretary for the PMA Ag Office in Hiawatha prior to becoming a CNA for the Horton Hospital. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday school and was a member of the Zion Women’s group. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading and spending time with her family.

On August 22, 1953 she married Alvin L. Selland at the Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, Kansas.

Survivors include three sons, Wesley (Julie) Selland of Everest, Kansas, Stanley (Debbie) Selland of Willis, Kansas and John Selland of Horton, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Jason (Jill) Selland, Jacob (Kristy) Selland, Jared (Laura) Selland, Melissa (Andrew) Mitchell, Joshua (Sarah) Selland, Rachel Selland, Isaac Selland, Tobias Selland and Joseph Selland; twelve great grandchildren, Ben, Anna, Max, Sofi, Bentley, Justin, Macyn, Jaeden, Jaxon, Nevaeh, Harlee and Luke; numerous nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alvin on December 3, 2014, grandson, Daniel Paul Selland and brother, Lloyd Jacobson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Zion Lutheran Church, north of Everest, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
