Joseph “Joe” Eugene “Pok-to” Wahweotten, 55, of Mayetta, KS passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in Mayetta. He was born February 28, 1962 in Holton, KS the son of Vernon L. and Rosemary (Masquat) Wahweotten.

Joe graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1980. He worked for many years installing dry wall for Gary Heath Drywall in Lawrence. Joe had worked the last few years for Nelson Liquor Store in Mayetta. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Joe married Mary Jo Albright, they divorced. He married Karen M. Wilks, they divorced.

Survivors include his father, Vernon Wahweotten of Holton, KS; 3 children, Virginia “Ginny” Wahweotten of Ottawa, KS, Matthew Eugene Wahweotten of Ottawa, KS and Shelby Lynn Wahweotten of Lawrence, KS; 3 step-children, Joshua Ryan Wilks of Lawrence, KS, Jessica Renee Haskell of Lawrence, KS and Kristin Nicole Haskell of Mayetta, KS; 4 sisters, Verna Wahweotten of Holton, KS, Barbara Evans of Mayetta, KS, Lisa Wahweotten of Topeka, KS and Denise Wahweotten of Kansas City, MO; a brother, Alan Wahweotten of Mayetta, KS and 7 grandchildren.
