Marie Almeda Hartter
Sabetha, KS

Marie Almeda Hartter, age 92, of Sabetha, Kansas died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.  Marie was born January 3, 1921 in Sabetha, Kansas, the daughter of Lewis and Lena (Strahm) Bahr. 

She attended the Sabetha Grade School, completing the eighth grade, then worked at Williams Cleaners and the Nemaha Co-op Creamery. 

Marie became a member of the Sabetha Apostolic Christian Church at the age of sixteen.  On February 20, 1944, Marie was married to Virgil Hartter.  They made their home and raised their family on a farm northwest of Sabetha. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, Lewis and Lena Bahr; her stepmother, Fanny (Aeschliman) Bahr; two brothers, Willard Bahr and Clayton Bahr; daughter-in-law, Lisa Hartter; one granddaughter, Sara (Strahm) Popkess, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her husband, Virgil Hartter of Sabetha;  four daughters, Verona (Wilfred) Strahm and Teresa (Brad) Kellenberger of Sabetha, Jane (Ron) Isch and Judy (Doug) Kraft of Gridley, Kansas; eight sons, Roger (Ilene) Hartter, Dennis (Beth) Hartter, Timothy (Charleen) Hartter, David (Beth) Hartter, James (Sandy) Hartter, all of Sabetha, Robert (Chris) of Roanoke, Illinois, Jerome (Gail) of Rock Rapids Rapids, Iowa and Douglas (Millie) of Lancaster, Kansas;  58 grandchildren and 113 great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Wenger of Sabetha, and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service is Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha.  Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.  Interment will take place in the Apostolic Church Cemetery in Sabetha.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.popkessmortuaries.com
