Delbert “Del” Cochran, 74, of Verdon, NE, passed away June 9, 2017 at Lincoln, NE. He was born June 13, 1942 in rural Falls City, NE to Samuel and Gladys (Clark) Cochran.

Del enlisted in the U. S. Marines Corp on March 10, 1966 and was honorably discharged on December 20, 1967.

He married Christine Hill on October 10, 1970 at Avenel, NJ

Del was raised in rural Falls City and graduated Dawson-Verdon High school 1960. Following graduation he moved to Omaha, NE and worked various jobs until enlisting in the Marines. Upon his discharge he became employed in law enforcement for Metropolitan DC police Department at Washington, DC, retiring in 1988 after 20 years. He did various jobs around the DC area until moving back to Verdon in 1995 and in 1996 he became a Richardson County Sheriff’s deputy, retiring in 2001. He then worked for the Nebraska department of roads for a couple years. He joined the Patriot Guard in 2002 and was the family’s historian.

Del is survived by his wife, Chris of Herdon, VA, son, Jeffrey and his wife Terri of Lincon, daughter, Lisa Cochran of Herndon, VA, sisters, Etta Blasotto of Wayland, MA, Thelma Bell and her husband Denzil of Falls City, grandchildren, Justin and Skylar Dowdy, step-grandchildren, Zac Johnson and Jacobi Evans. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Clarence and Norman, sister, Gertrude Cochran and Mildred DeRoin.

His funeral will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home. Interment will be in Harris Cemetery. Military graveside honors by Falls City Ceremonial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
