Arthur Allen Hards, 70, of Holton, KS formerly of Circleville, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017 at Vintage Park in Holton.

He was born November 4, 1946 in Horton, KS the son of Raymond E. and Twila M. (Long) Hards.

Arthur attended Goff schools and lived in Jackson County most of his life. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era; he was honorably discharged for medical reasons. Arthur returned to State Control as a member of Army National Guard for another year.

He had lived in the Holton Community since 1993. Arthur had worked for Cargill in Topeka, retiring for medical reasons after 32 years.

Arthur married Sharon Butchee on December 18, 1968 in Pueblo, CO, they later divorced. Other survivors include 3 daughters, Vickie Duryea (Greg) of Goff, KS, Shannon Elliott (Mike) of Arrington, KS and Stacey Curtis (Glen) of Holton, KS; a sister, Opal Carver of Elkland, MO; 3 brothers, Gary Hards of Denison, KS, William Hards of Holton, KS and Ronald Hards of Holton, KS; and 5 grandsons, Devin Duryea, Cody Duryea, Nathan Curtis, Phillip Elliott and David Curtis

He was preceded in death by a grandson, William Cecil Elliott on September 2, 2008.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Friday, June 16, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow in the Mayetta Cemetery.
