Marvin C. Long, 79, of Holton, KS, formerly of Hoyt, KS, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Medicalodges Jackson County. He was born September 21, 1937 in Vermillion, KS the son of Wm. Harold and Eva (Gough) Long.

Marvin graduated from Axtell High School in 1955 and later attended the University of Kansas. He then went on to proudly serve in the National Guard Army Reserve. After spending his early years in the Marshal County Area, he moved to Jackson County in 1961 and lived there for the rest of his life. He worked as a carpenter, contractor, and estimator for the Holton Lumberyard.

On December 20, 1957, Marvin married Margaret Brownfield in Circleville, KS, they later divorced. On October 30, 1989, Marvin married Clara L. Perry in Mayetta, KS, she survives of the home.

Survivors include two daughters, Kellie (Kenny) Bryan of Hoyt, KS and Barbara (Jeff) Brown of Topeka, KS; two sisters, Almetta “Jackie” Bottom of Soldier, KS and Sandra Sawyer of Hoyt, KS; 4 Brothers, Albin “Leon” Long of Topeka, KS, Glen Dale Long of Meriden, KS, Dwight Long of Topeka, KS, and Randy Long of Topeka, KS; 4 Grandchildren; and 6 Great-Grandchildren.

 In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Barry Louroy Long and a brother Denzel Long.

 A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 7:30 pm, Monday evening, at the funeral home.
