Clyde W. Gerber, Jr., 68, Atchison, Kansas died Friday, November 24, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at 12:30 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Noyes officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, November 29th from 11:30 until 12:30 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Clyde Gerber Memorial Fund to assist the family with final arrangements and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Clyde was born May 12, 1949 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Clyde Christopher and Betty Gwinn Gerber. He attended elementary schools in several cities and attended Atchison High School.

He and Debra S. McKibben were united in marriage on December 11, 1976 in Atchison, Kansas.

Clyde served in the United States Army from August 6. 1969 until his honorable discharge on April 16, 1970. He had served as a field radio mechanic during the Vietnam War.

After his military service he returned to Atchison and served as a truck driver with Union #541 for several years, driving for many different companies with the union.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Gerber of the couple’s home in Atchison, KS; a son, Christopher (Vanessa) Gerber, Atchison, KS; two daughters, Mary Gail (Jeffrey) Harlan, Scranton, KS; Becky Sue Gerber, Atchison, KS; two sisters, Hazel Gunn, Mineral Wells, TX; Ellen Bryant, Minnesota; fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde William Gerber; a daughter, Trina Smith and a brother, Guy Gerber.
