Joseph J. “Joe” Bowness, 88, Mound City, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017.

He was born April 8, 1929 to James and Leda (Fries) Bowness.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Oswalds Episcopal Church near rural Skidmore, Missouri.

Joe graduated from Bellevue High School in 1947 and graduated from The University of Missouri. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

On January 26, 1974 he married Dorilee Tiemeyer. She survives of the home.

He was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed traveling and Navy reunions with friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, James William; and infant sister.

Additional survivors include brother, Phillip Bowness (Joan); nephews, James Bowness (Angie), and Kevin Bowness; niece, Christina Webster (Kevin); and 7 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Pettijohn & Crawford Family Funeral Service. Interment New Liberty Cemetery, Mound City, Missouri.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Pettijohn & Crawford Family Funeral Service.
