Jame Musil

James T. Musil of Dubois Nebraska passed away on January 31, 2018 at Premier Estates in Pawnee City, after a short battle with cancer. He was born to Robert and Edna (Ullman) Musil on March 26, 1956. Jim attended school at DuBois through the 7 th grade and graduated at Pawnee City High School with the Class of 1974. 

He spent many years painting houses with his Uncle Lud. They were known as dedicated and dependable workers. Many people around town hired them, knowing the good job that they always did. He also worked at the Pawnee Sale Barn for a short time. He worked various jobs for Region 5. The past 19 years he worked at Shopko in Auburn. He was also a devoted caretaker of his mother in her declining years up until her death in 2013. 

Jim loved raising vegetables and flowers in a garden. He also had a keen interest in observing the weather and knew many historical weather facts. He loved watching college football, and was a Nebraska Cornhusker fan. He was interested in history, and was very knowledgeable in local history. Other interests include Oldies Rock, traveling, and playing cards with his family. 

Jim was very proud of his Dad’s and Uncle Lud’s service in WW II and helped his Uncle Lud put flags on the graves of Veterans for many years on Memorial Day weekend. He enjoyed community events, such as Legion suppers, dances at the ZCBJ Hall, and other celebrations and events in the area. 

Jim was close with and loved his family dearly. His faith was very important to him, rarely missing a Sunday service. 

Left to mourn Jim are his 4 brothers, Bob (Tammy), Ken, Steve, and Ray; sisters in law Patty Kole and Jane Musil, nephews Brad (Paula), Bobby (Carlynn), Michael (Heidi), and John; nieces Sarah (Almir) Levic, Elizabeth, Brittany and fiancé Logan Luce, and Samantha (Kevin) Reith; also 7 great-nieces and nephews. Other survivors include 2 aunts, many cousins and friends. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, many aunts and uncles, and one cousin. 

Services 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018 at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, Steinauer, Nebraska. Officiating Father Michael Christensen. Visitation on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from Noon-5 p.m. with family greeting friends from 3-5 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Rosary on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 5 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City.
