Julie Beth Jensen, 61, of Mayetta, KS, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 6, 2018 at Stormont Vail Hospital. She was born July 24, 1956 in Sabetha, KS, the daughter of James Edward and Margaret Alice “Margie” (Koehler) Sheik.

Julie graduated from Bern High School in 1974 and attended Kansas State University from 1974 – 1979; earning her Bachelors of Science in mathematics. Julie taught mathematics for over 10 years at Alma/Wabaunsee High School and Highland Community College. From 2001 -2007 she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and from 2001-2012 she worked for KDHE in the Medicaid Distribution Department. Julie currently was employed for Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation as a Tax Director.

She was a member of KSDS, Pi Beta Phi and a loyal fan of K-State Wildcats.

Julie married Mike Jensen on June 10, 1995 in Wabaunsee, KS; he preceded her in death on June 15, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her fiancé, Hardy Eteeyan of the home; her son, Michael Schneider (Jennifer) of Wamego, KS; her daughter, Laura Wiksten (Ryan) of Andover, KS; 4 sisters, Alice Aiken of San Antonio, TX, Jeannie Rosengarten (Charlie) of Green Valley, AZ, Linda Raitt (Larry) of Andover, KS and Cindy Scott (Kent) of Faucet, MO; her brother, Bill Sheik (Terry) of Bern, KS and 5 grandchildren, Trinity, Kyron, Brooklynn, Dillyn and Easton.

Celebration of Life will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Family will greet friends following the service at the funeral home. A meal and reception will be held around 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Nozhackum Hall on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation (8362 158th Rd., Mayetta, KS).
