Adeline Gilmore, 99, of Leawood, KS formerly of Everest, KS died Thursday, April 26, 2018.

Adeline Gladys Gilmore was the youngest of eight children born to John and Frances (Wolney) Ubelaker on April 16, 1919 at Willis, KS.

She graduated from Everest High School with honors and in 1940 received an RN from St. Joseph Nursing School in Kansas City. She worked as a general service and surgical nurse at Horton (KS) Community Hospital and later at Newman Memorial Hospital in Emporia.

She and John Marvin Gilmore of Hiawatha were married and moved to Waukeegan, IL where she worked at St. Theresa’s Hospital while John was completing his U.S. Navy service at the Great Lakes Naval Station.

The couple moved to Robinson where they purchased the S.T. Parker drug store. Adeline continued her nursing career at Hiawatha Community Hospital where she worked until her retirement.

She is survived by her three children, Robert Gilmore (Jane) of Overland Park, KS; David Gilmore (Meg) of Leawood, KS; and Carol Gilmore of Leawood, KS. She was preceded in death by brothers Dr. Clement Ubelaker (Dorothy) of Ottawa, KS; Henry Ubelaker (Wilma) of Everest, KS; Victor Ubelaker ( Lela) of Horton, KS; Dr. Ernest Ubelaker (Ruth) of South Haven, KS; and sisters Frances (Frank) Geiger of Horton, KS; Helen (Henry) Bunck of Everest, KS; and Mary ( William) Bertels of Nortonville, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 1p.m. at the St. Leo Catholic Church in Horton, KS. Celebrant will be Father Dan Gardner. Interment will follow at the St. Leo Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S. 7th St. Hiawatha, KS 66434.
