George Kent Orr, 80, of Sabetha, KS passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at the Sabetha Community Hospital.

He was born on February 15, 1938 the son of George Orr and Elizabeth (Cooper) Orr at Winchester, Kentucky. George entered the U.S. Army in 1965. He met his future wife, Jeananne Hanna at the Pentagon while they both were working in intelligence. They were united in marriage on May 29, 1965 in Arlington, Virginia. George served overseas in Vietnam and Korea.

After his time overseas the family settled in Kentucky for a short time and then moved to Germany for several years. He retired from the U.S. Army at Boca Raton, Florida in 1981. George worked in security for North Broward Medical Center. After moving with family to Tishomingo, Oklahoma, George and Jeananne followed their family to Sabetha, Kansas in 2002. He worked for Napa Auto Parts in Sabetha for many years. George enjoyed doing small crafts, but especially enjoyed watching his granddaughters and all their activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Orr on November 8, 2013; and his brother, Michael Orr.

He is survived by his wife, Jeananne of the home; his daughter, Barbara (Joshua) Payne of Sabetha, KS; and four granddaughters, Lauren Payne, Karrington Payne, Ava Payne, and Olivia Orr.

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Private inurnment will take place in the Albany Cemetery.
