Harold Halling

Harold Halling, 94, of Severance, Kansas died Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Harold was born on March 2, 1924 in Severance, Kansas to August and Alice (Taylor) Halling.  He was a lifelong resident of Severance, he worked as a U.S.D.A. meat inspector for 24 years, farmed, served on the Severance school board, and a book keeper for AW Halling  farms INC. In his spare time he loved doing volunteer work for the local community and gardening.  

He was a member of the St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Bendena, Kansas, Knights of Columbus and served in the Kansas National Guard in Troy.

Harold married Alice Bailey on April 12, 1955 in Bendena.  She preceded him in death on January 20, 2018.  He was also preceded by his parents, 2 siblings, John Halling and Mary Catherine Fridell.

Harold was the most considerate, thoughtful and caring person. He never had a harsh word to say about anyone or anything. He would always listen and smile and offer suggestions on what could be done. Harold was the eldest of all the children and was the right hand of their father for farming, gardening, and helping with his siblings. Harold embodied the faith of Christ and loving others.

He is survived by his sister Joann (Lewis) Holoday of Abilene, Kansas, Daughter & son-in-law; Alicia and Todd Smith of Severance, Kansas and grandchildren Adam Jenkins (Tina), and Kelsey Schultz (Levi) and four great-grandchildren

MASS:  Wednesday, August 8, 2018 – 10 A.M.

       At:  St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Bendena, Kansas

       Burial:  St. Benedict’s Catholic Cemetery next to the church.

       Rosary:  Tuesday, August 7, 2018 – 6:30 PM at the church followed by visitation until 8 P.M..

      Memorials: St. Benedicts Church Building Fund.
