Colleen “Coke” Ivey

Colleen “Coke” Ivey, 88, of Falls City, NE, passed away September 16, 2018 at Falls City. She was born April 30, 1930 at Falls City to Ole and Anna (Elwood) Lowe. 

She married Jeff Ivey on September 24, 1949 at Oakland, CA, they were later divorced.

Colleen was raised at Verdon and Falls City. She graduated Verdon High School in 1948. When married the couple lived various places because of his military service. She lived in California before returning to Verdon in April of 1961. She worked at the Hiway Dinner, Southside as a cook and she was a CNA at Falls City Care Center for 27 years, she retired in 2007.

Legend has it Coke was the best volleyball player in southeast Nebraska. She was the biggest Husker football fan around. She loved to play bingo and loved her family. She was her children’s biggest fan. She loved bowling and won many titles. She was a lover of all animals, especially her grand puppies. She attended the Brethren Church at Falls City.

Coke is survived by her sons, Fred and his wife Dee of Omaha, Kurt of Osage Beach, MO, Paul and his wife Marge of Camdenton, MO, Bob and his wife Judy of Falls City, daughter, Margaret Becker and her husband Mike of Glencoe, MN, twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ole Jr., Woodrow, Delbert, Chuck and Walter Lowe, sisters, Gladys, Elsie Darlene and Josephine, sons, Owen in infancy, Kevin and Leon, grandchild, Trevor Ivey, and daughter-in-law, Vicki Ivey.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Yount officiating. Interment will be in Verdon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.

The family prefers memorials be made to Summer Rec or Falls City Humane Society.
