Kenneth Knudson

Kenneth Knudson, 93, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

Kenneth was born on May 29, 1925 on a farm near, Willis, Kansas the son of Carl and Clara Mortenson Knudson. He graduated from Horton High School in 1943. Kenneth then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in the Philippines during WWII. After the war he came back to Horton and married Veda Bechtold on October 11, 1947 at the Horton United Methodist Church. Kenneth worked as a herdsman for a dairy in Hiawatha for a few years and then started a dairy farm of his own. He retired from farming in 1980 and moved to Horton, Kansas where owned and operated the Knudson Jewelry and Hairport with his wife Veda. Kenneth then went on to work for the Sac-N-Fox and Golden Eagle Casino's finally retiring at the age of 90.

He was a member of the Everest Zion Lutheran Church, Horton American Legion, Horton VFW, Jewelers Association and the Holstein Association. Kenneth also served on the Tri-County Manor board, the Horton Chamber of Commerce board and the Mid America Dairy Association board.

Survivors include a son, Knute (Debbie) Knudson of Hiawatha, Kansas; a daughter, Jana (Tim) Ross of Horton, Kansas; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Alma Knudson and Ruby Knudson and numerous nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Veda Knudson on February 11, 2018, two sisters, Elmira Jamvold, a baby sister at birth and two brothers, Carl Knudson Jr. and a twin brother, Keith Knudson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Zion Lutheran Church north of Everest, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
