Walter "Pete" Rethman, 82, of Holton, died Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth.
 
Pete was born April 20, 1936 at Seneca, the son of John and Marcella Rettele Rethman.  He graduated from Sts. Peter and Paul High School at Seneca and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
 
Pete was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and Holton Knights of Columbus Council No. 4219.
 
He owned and operated Pete's Metal and Welding for many years.
 
He married Irene J. Taphorn on October 8, 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska.  She survives, of the home.
 
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marceil "Sis" Fouraker and Betty Himmelberg, and a brother, Tom Rethman.
 
Other survivors include two sons, Jason Rethman, Tempe, AZ and Jarred (Amy) Rethman, Netawaka; two brothers, John Rethman (Jerian), Seneca and Wayne Rethman (Marlene), El Dorado; four sisters, Doris Fairfield, Kansas City, Judy Hein (Walter), Salina, Mary Sanders (Glenn), Morrill and Carol Karnowski (Dan), Omaha, NE and two grandchildren,  Logan and Kolby Rethman.
 
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 10th at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, followed by visitation.  Inurnment will be later in Sts.
