Rita M. Henry, 82, of Atchison, Kansas passed away Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Atchison Hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Tuesday, Feb. 26th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to Achievement Services and may be left in care of the funeral home. Rita was born November 7, 1936 in Goff, Kansas the daughter of Theodore and Lenora (Hastert) Gellhaus. She attended elementary and high school in Kelly, Kansas.

Rita and John B. Henry were united in marriage on December 29, 1954 at St. Bede’s Catholic Church in Kelly, Kansas. Mr. Henry preceded her in death on December 13, 1989.

In addition to raising her five children, Rita was employed for 27 years with the Valley Hope Housekeeping Department and then for 10 years with the Achievement Services as a housekeeper until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Benedict Parish, attending St. Joseph’s Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Linda) Henry, Cummings, KS, Robert (Michelle) Henry, Atchison, KS; one daughter, Sheryl (Robert) Weber, Atchison, KS; four sisters, Mary Lou Nolte, Delores Honeycutt, Millie Smith, Helen Croan; a brother, Bernard Gellhaus; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Henry; a daughter, Mary A. Henry; and a son, Leon B. Henry.
