Glen Durwood Gearhart 91, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.

He was born on April 18, 1927 in Floydada, Texas the son of Frank Bevens and Sara Nita Hart Gearhart. 

Glen was in the Merchant Marines and then was drafted into the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the war Glen went on to graduate from the Amarillo Community College in Amarillo, Texas. After graduating from college Glen worked for the Bivens Foundation and as a TV technician for 50 years before retiring. He was a 70 year member of the Palo Duro Masonic Lodge in Amarillo, Texas.

On October 12, 1953 he married Gladys L. Hessong after courting for three weeks. They were married for 61 years. After 5 years of marriage they moved to Amarillo, Texas where they lived for 43 years. In 2008 they moved to Sabetha, Kansas to be closer to their family. Gladys preceded him in death on May 15, 2015.

Survivors include two sons, Roger (Tracye) Gearhart of Midland, Texas and Kenneth Gearhart of Phoenix, Arizona; a daughter, Susan (Kevin) Broxterman of Sabetha, Kansas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ryan Broxterman on December 6, 2014, a brother, George and a sister Ina Mae.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Sabetha United Methodist Church where the family will greet friends from 10:30 A.M. until service time. Burial will be at the Albany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Glen Gearhart memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas.
