Nona “Polly” Pauline Schneider, 84, of Valley Falls, KS, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Linnwood Park Home Plus in Valley Falls. She was born March 17, 1935 in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Ernest “Ike” and Voleta M. (McGuire) Schuster.

Nona graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1953. She worked as a Hospice Nurse at Jefferson County Health Department from 1982-1992. She was also a homemaker.

On October 3, 1953 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Alfred Schneider. To this union they shared three children, Kendy, Trudy and Toby. They later divorced.

She was a member of Valley Falls United Methodist Church and member of the Vallerian Study Club. She was also a member of the Sunset Haven Board.

Survivors include her children, Toby D. Schneider (Deborah) of Effingham, KS, Kendy K. Trowbridge (DeWayne) of Liberty, MO and Gertrude “Trudy” Erhart (Ken) of Valley Falls, KS; a sister, Alma G. Wilkerson of Cameron, MO; 4 grandchildren, Trenton Trowbridge of Liberty, MO, Kelli Hernandez (Adam) of Valley Falls, KS, Christopher Erhart (Dera) of Valley Falls, KS and Kayla Schneider of Effingham, KS;  6 great-grandchildren, Colton Trowbridge, Chase Trowbridge, Kennadi Hernandez, Emmarie Hernandez, Addlee Hernandez and Baby Girl Erhart due in September.

Graveside Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Spring Grove Cemetery in Valley Falls, KS. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
