Chester A. Boyce, 87, Woodward, OK, formerly of Waukomis, OK, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at Mooreland Heritage Manor, Mooreland, OK.

He was born July 24, 1931, at Stillwater, OK, the son of Frank Everett and Jessie Bell Blanchard Boyce. He graduated from Valley Falls, KS, High School in 1949. He served in the Korean War in the US Army and attained the rank of Corporal.   

Chet worked as a superintendent, foreman and heavy equipment operator for 38 years for ANR Pipeline Co. He was a member of Woodward, OK, Christian Church and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 92 at Meade, KS.

He married Janice I. Collins, Feb. 14, 1953. They later divorced. He married Dorita Earlene Decker Ward, Oct 12, 2002, at Waukomis, OK. She died Jan. 2, 2014.

 Survivors include a son, Allen Boyce, Castle Rock, WA; three daughters, Debra Joann (Andy) Glennie, Woodward, OK, Cathy Sue (Arden) Mendenhall, Wittman, AZ, and Penny J. Boyce, Rossville, KS; three stepchildren, Randy D. Ward, Waukomis, OK, Peggy E. Winchester, Waukomis, OK, and Donna R. Reyes, Booker, TX; a sister-in-law, June Boyce, Valley Falls, KS; 15 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Crystal Carothers; a great-granddaughter, Kennedy Brook Boyce; three brothers, Everett, Donald and Warren Boyce, and two sisters, Marie Kenny and Mary List.
 

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls, KS. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery with military honors by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084, Veterans of Foreign War. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.
