Mary "Cathy" Sands, 68, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Horton after complications, due to a stroke.

Cathy was born on January 28, 1951 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Leon and Janie (Willis) Lockwood. She graduated from Horton High School in 1969. She was a wonderful wife and a mother. She moved to Reno, Nevada where she worked many years in the Casino Business to include areas all over Nevada. She moved back home to help her sister, Susie Lednicky in many entrepreneurial businesses.

Cathy's greatest passion was her family. She was full of life and everyone loved being around her. Her friends knew they could count on her for anything! She was always up to hanging out and playing card games. She also was a huge music fan and always loved listening to music, no matter what the venue. Cathy also loved to travel to see friends and family wherever the location. She loved to be around the water whether it was a lake, river, pool or ocean. If there was something fun going on, Cathy was involved. One of her greatest passions was her grandson, Camden Lowe.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Mike Sands of the home; daughter, LaVina (Rick) Beveridge of Eagle, Colorado; son, Bradley (Melissa) Lowe of Huntsville, Alabama; two grandsons, Camden Lowe, Joey Beveridge, and a granddaughter, Remy Beveridge; parents, Leon and Janie Lockwood of Horton, Kansas; sister, Susie Lednicky of Horton, Kansas; brother, Tom Lockwood of Horton, Kansas and multiple loving and caring cousins, nieces, nephews and family members.

There will be a Celebration of Cathy's life later this year. She would want everybody to know that she was glad to know each and everyone she ever met. She will be in Heaven looking down on all of us and know that she touched each of us in her own special way. Inurnment will be at the Horton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Cathy Sands memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
