Elvin C. Zwahl, 85, of Horton, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the North Pines in Hiawatha, Kansas.

He was born on November 18, 1933 in Wetmore, Kansas the son of Charles and Nora Shumaker Zwahl.  After Elvin graduated from high school he served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict as an electrician from 1951 to 1955. After his enlistment he returned home and married Lola M. Newell in Onaga, Kansas in 1957. She preceded him in death on May 11, 2019.  Elvin worked as an electrician for the Brown Atchison Electric in Horton, Kansas for many years before retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Horton and the VFW. Survivors include a son, Pat Zwahl of Atchison, Kansas; two daughters, Laura Zwahl of Lawrence, Kansas and Susan Deckinger of Hiawatha, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M. on Monday morning.  Burial with military graveside rites will be at the Wetmore Cemetery.
