Alma " Jeannie" Bowser

Alma Jean “Jeannie” Bowser, 85, of Holton, died Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born February 27, 1935 at Valley Falls, the daughter of Elmer and Anna Olga Meta Brandt Klahr.  She graduated from Netawaka High School.

Alma Jean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka.  She was also a member of LWML, the quilting club, and a Sunday School teacher at both churches.  She was a member of the Holton V.F.W. Auxiliary and had been a leader for the Happy Go Lucky 4-H Club.

She married Otis A. Bowser on February 23, 1958 at Netawaka.  He died November 10, 1997.

She and her husband ran a dairy for twenty-four years.  She also worked as a bookkeeper at the Jackson County Courthouse for ten years, for Dr. Griffith, DVM, Diagnostic Equipment, managed a mobile home park and Ramsgate Apartments in Olathe, worked at Jackson County Nursing Home, cooked at Kansas State University, worked at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, and operated A.J. Cleaning.

Alma Jean was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, David Dwayne Bowser, and a sister, Gerva Dean Weber.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Wayne Bowser (Bonnie), Topeka, two daughters, Susan Jean Woltje (Lanny), Holton, and Lynn Ann Jones, Ozawkie; a brother, Delmer Lee Klahr, Holton, two sisters, Evelyn Niehaus, Lincoln, NE, and Betty Ann Barnes, Valley Falls; eleven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton.  Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery.  Alma Jean will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.  Family and friends will meet from 9:30 until service time at the church on Thursday.  Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, or the American Diabetes Association, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton  66436.  On-line condolences may be made atchapeloaksfuneralhome.com
