Barbara Carleen Denny, 86, of Soldier, KS, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Onaga Health and Rehabilitation. She was born January 30, 1934 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Barney L. and Katherine (LaRochelle) Perdue.

Barbara had lived in the Soldier community since 1988 and previously in Denver, CO. She was a cashier at Albertson’s in Denver, CO and at Holton Countrymart.

She married Gerald W. Denny on June 18, 1950 in Gardner, KS. They celebrated over 61 years of marriage. Gerald passed away on November 6, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Barney and Katherine Perdue; a sister, Dorothy Perdue; a brother, Barney A. Perdue and 2 grandchildren, Teri Denny and Brian Keifer.

Survivors include 3 sons, Rick Denny (Dana) of Denver, CO, David Denny of Soldier, KS and Joe Denny (Phyllis) of Havensville, KS; a daughter, Brenda Bishop (Brian) of Alliance, NE; 2 sisters, Sandra Smith of Olathe, KS and Tavy Luttrell of Shawnee, KS; a brother, Dick Perdue of Olathe, KS; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the Soldier Cemetery in Soldier, KS. Barbara will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Wednesday, May 6, 2020.
