Donald Theodore Teten, 86, of Talmage, Nebraska was born on September 14, 1934, in Otoe County, Nebraska to Theodore F. and Erna Johanna (Julius) Teten.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church across the road from his farm home.  Donald was raised on the family farm near Talmage and attended Fairview School District #51.  He graduated from Talmage High School with the class of 1952.  On December 28, 1956, Donald entered active duty in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict until being honorably discharged on December 18, 1958. 
On November 25, 1961, Donald was united in marriage to Kathryn Ann Mielkein Omaha, Nebraska.  To this union two daughters, Suzanne and Sandra, were born.  The couple raised their family on a farm near Talmage where Donald farmed all of his life.  They received the 100-year farm award from AK-Sar-Ben in 1973.  Donald retired from farming at age 55 and worked part-time at Norman’s IGA in Nebraska City for 13 years.  He and Kathy also worked together for Casey-Witzenburg Funeral Home for 14 years.  Donald and Kathy enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states and Germany three times.  Donald was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church and the Bryon-Holtgrewe American Legion Post #246 in Talmage.  In his spare time, he enjoyed farming, bulldozing, working outside and visiting family and friends.  Donald went to be with his Lord on Monday, December 7, 2020, at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-six years, two months and twenty-three days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Norman (Caroline) Teten and an infant brother.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Kathy Teten of Talmage, NE; daughter Suzanne Vitale and husband Blaise of Grantsburg, WI; their children: Victoria Vitale of Grantsburg, WI; Teddy Vitale of St. Peter, MN; daughter Sandra Minnick and husband Brian of Mesa, AZ; their children: Ian Minnick of Ann Arbor, MI;  a brother Norman Teten of Talmage, NE; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage, Nebraska with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating.  Masks and social distancing will be required for all attending services.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the Hall Funeral Chapel, 707 15th Street in Auburn, Nebraska. Masks and social distancing are required during this time.
Interment will be at St. Paul’s Cemetery north of Talmage with full military honors conducted by the Bryon-Holtgrewe American Legion Post #246 and Nebraska Army Honor Guard.
