Glen Fay Vice, 97, of Falls City Nebraska, was born on February 9, 1923, a few minutes after his twin sister, Gladys, in a 3 room cottage just west of what is now Indian Cave State Park, Shubert, Nebraska. He was one of 10 children and the oldest son born to William 'Glen' and Gladys (Ramsey) Vice. He was raised on the farm and attended Hazel Dell Country School. At 17 he went to South Dakota for wheat harvest, and on to Idaho for potato and beet harvest. He entered the Army Air Force on June 7, 1943. He served in the European Theatre for 21 months before being honorably discharged on March 10, 1946.

After his discharge he returned to the Shubert area and began farming. He married Maurine Marie Meyerkorth on May 23, 1948. They made their first home in Shubert. Glen got his pilot license, soloing in a Piper Cub Plane on February 22, 1956. He owned his own plane and enjoyed using it for coyote hunting for several years. In 1957 they bought and moved to the farm east of Shubert. For several years Glen also had a trucking and corn shelling business until an accident with anhydrous ammonia burned out his left eye, and he sold that business. He continued to live and work on the farm as long as his health allowed. He was 95 the last time he helped with harvest. After a fall in May of 2019 Glen and Maurine moved to Jonesbrook Assisted Living in Falls City, Nebraska.

Glen is survived by his wife, Maurine, daughter, Tana Jolene (David) Brown of Nemaha and son, David Glenn Vice of Shubert, grandchildren, Robert (Danielle) Brown, Kensington, OH; Ronnie (Lizzie) Brown, Manchester, OH; and David A. (Tabatha) Brown, Salem, OH, step-granddaughter, Katie (Joe) Buckminster, Falls City, great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kayleigh, Joshua, Grace, Skyler, Leila, Katie and Noah Brown, step-great-granddaughter, Olivia Buckminster, brothers: Rolland (Iris) Vice, Stella, NE, Ted (Colleen) Vice, Omaha, NE, and Leland Vice, Shubert, NE, sister, Lila Meyerkorth and a sister-in-law, Shirley Vice, Fall City. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Donald and Howard Vice, sisters, Wilda (Francis) Halligan, Darlene Bednorz, Gladys (Leon) Lundy, and a brother-in-law, LaVern Meyerkorth.

Open visitation will be at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home from 5-8 on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Harris Cemetery with military graveside honors by the Shubert American Legion Post 222.
