Rose Marie (Lewis) Rears, 91, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on April 30, 19430 in Barada, Nebraska to Guy Sutton and Ethel (Howard) Lewis.  She was raised on her family farm and attended Bratton Union Consolidated School.  After graduating from high school, Rose Marie attended college where she took secretarial classes.  On July 16, 1948, Rose Marie was united in marriage to Donald “Don” Rears in Humboldt, Nebraska.  The couple raised three children, Shari, Donna and Ronald, on a farm four and a half miles west of Stella, Nebraska.  Rose Marie was a long-time member of the Humboldt Rebekah’s Crescent Lodge #100 where she served in many different capacities over the years. 

Rose Marie passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-one years, nine months and twenty days.  She was preceded in death by his parents, husband Don Rears, brothers: Paul (Margaret) Lewis, Harlan (Millie) Lewis, Tom Lewis, Donald (Pauline) Lewis and Gary Lewis, her sister Martha Lewis and brothers-in-law Jerry Mehlin and Dean Whitfield.

Rose Marie is survived by her children: Shari Parisi and husband Nick of Banning, CA; Donna Arandus of Grand Island, NE; Ronnie Rears of Humboldt, NE; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, sisters: Bonnie Mehlin of Fremont, NE; Betty Whitfield of Bellevue, NE; sisters-in-law: Janet Lewis of California, Margie Lewis of Humboldt, NE; Jeane Kuhlmann of Humboldt, NE; Mary Lou Haynes of Auburn, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Dorothy Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

Inurnment will be at the Stella Cemetery in Stella, Nebraska at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
