Virginia “Ginger” Lee Filbert was born September 9, 1946 to Elmer and Mable Othick at Kincaid, KS.  She died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. She was a graduate of Winchester High School and Stormont -Vail School of Nursing and earned her BSN from Ft. Hays State University.  She was a member of the Winchester United Methodist Church, where she married Donald Filbert on February 27, 1995.

She was a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother as well as a registered nurse.

She is survived by husband, Don, Children:, Donnie C. (Ricardo Guerra), North Las Vegas, NV, Melinda “Mindy” (Tim) Mehaffy, Excelsior, MO, James E. (Stephanie), Nortonville, grandchildren: Lindsay (Chris) Woodbury,   Kansas City, MO, Logan Mehaffy, Excelsior Springs, MO, Trenton, Jared and Jase of Nortonville, sister, Judy (Ken) Jackson, Ottawa, brother, Wayne (Nancy) Othick, Baldwin City, and many nieces , nephews, aunts and uncles and good friends who have supported her through her battle with cancer.  Also considered part of family is Rob, Lindsay, Kelcie and Kinzie Aspinwall and many extended family of her husband, Don. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, baby brother, a grandson, Jayden Filbert and a nephew, Darren Othick.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM  Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Barnett Family Funeral Home, Oskaloosa, with Visitation one hour prior to Service. Grave Side Service will follow at Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery, Winchester, KS.   Memorials suggested to friends of Jefferson County Hospice or to St. Luke’s Foundation , Koontz Center Retreat Fund in care of the Funeral Home, P.O.
