Roger Chadwell

Roger Ivan Chadwell, 77 of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away on July 17, 2023.

Roger was born on July 17, 1946, to Ivan and Lillian (Eisenbise) Chadwell in Hiawatha, Kansas. He grew up and worked on the family farm in Fairview and attended Fairview High School graduating in 1964. Roger met Mary Goodwin in Hiawatha while she was working at the hospital, they were married on September 7, 1974.

After Rogers parents retired, he took over the family farm growing wheat, milo, and alfalfa along with raising hogs and a small herd of cattle. Roger was an active member of the Fairview Church of Christ, Fairview Willing Workers 4-H Club, and the Farm Bureau Association. Along with his wife, Mary, Roger took in and helped raise several foster children and was active in the student exchange program, hosting exchange students from Japan and Colombia.

In 1998, after Roger- wife, Mary, passed away, Roger continued to host foster children and was active in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America program. Attending KU football and basketball games were among Roger- favorite pastimes, and he was a long-time season ticket holder for both programs. Roger moved to the Wellsville area after his daughter, Christina, had her first-born son, Trevor, so he could be closer to his family. Roger joined the Centropolis Christian Church in Ottawa, Kansas where he was an active member.

Roger was hard working and was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who truly knew no strangers. He would always make an acquaintance wherever he would go. Roger was selfless and always put others before himself and will truly be missed.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chadwell. Roger is survived by his son, Riley Chadwell; his daughter, Christina Sebol, and her Husband Duane Sebol; and his grandchildren, Trevor Sebol, Alyssa Sebol and Dylan Sebol.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 28,2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the Centropolis Christian Church, 1104 Barnes Avenue, Ottawa Kansas.
