Joan Joyce Radina Reichart, 84, of Tonganoxie, Kansas passed away July 28, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1938 in rural Lucas, Kansas in Russell County, the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Brown) Radina.

Joan graduated from Luray High School. After graduation she attended Brown Mackie School of Business in Salina, Kansas. She moved to Topeka, Kansas where she worked for the State of Kansas as a Stenographer.

She met her future husband, Galen E. Reichart, on a blind date. They were married on August 30, 1959. They were married almost 64 years. They were blessed with six children raising them in both Topeka and Valley Falls, Kansas.

Joan was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest children were in Junior High School. She was Manager of the Old Ice Cream Parlor and as the City Clerk of Valley Falls. She worked at Josten- Yearbook Company in Topeka. She retired in 2000.

She was a life-long member of The United Methodist Church. She was active in her children- school as a Room Mother, Concession Stand worker, PTA President and other offices. She was a Bluebirds and Campfire Girls leader as well as a 4-H Leader.

She was a member of Lions Club for many years serving in many offices including Zone Chairman and District Chairman of the Peace Poster. She was a member of the Valley Falls Historical Society and volunteered many years at the United Methodist Clothes Closet.

Survivors include her husband, Galen, of the home; three daughters, Teresa (Steve) Vernon, Danette Reichart and Margaret Reichart all of Tonganoxie, Kansas; Two sons, William Reichart of Topeka, Kansas, and James (Prince) Reichart of Houston, Texas; A daughter-in-law, Dorothy Reichart of Topeka, Kansas. Seven grandchildren; Five Great-Grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, Great nieces, Great nephew, and a Great-Great nephew.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Radina; her brother James Radina; her Aunt Margaret Bryan who raised her; and her son, Thomas Reichart.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery.
