Marvin D. Stous, 89, of Holton, KS, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at The Pines South with family by his side. He was born December 16, 1933 in Holton, KS, the son of Wallace F. and Mina (Bateman) Stous.

He graduated from Holton High School in 1951. Marvin proudly served in the United States Navy-Seabees from 1952 - 1956 in Adak and the Philippines.

Marvin was a lifelong farmer and stockman. He also worked for G.W. Baker Construction and later retired from Goodyear Tire Company after 32 years in the rear tractor and bias truck department.

He was a member of the Holton Evangel (former Evangel United Methodist Church), Volunteer- Sunday School Class, Mustang Camping Club and USW #307. He was a former member of Odd Fellow Lodge and was past Noble Grand.

Marvin married Mary Lou Bohnenkemper on October 17, 1954 in Holton, KS. She preceded him in death on May 20, 2022 after 67 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Mina Stous; infant son, Paul Marvin Stous; brother, Harold W. Stous and son-in-law, Larry Kappelman.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Carol Kappelman of Kansas City, KS and Janet Fernkopf (Kyle) of Circleville, KS; son, Roger Stous (Vickie) of Kansas City, MO and 4 grandchildren, Chris Kappelman, Lena Fernkopf Craver (Cory), Alex Rabideaux and Gage Rabideaux.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends Monday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
