Caroline Ruth Fiene Sailors Palmer, 97 of Falls City, Nebraska passed away on October 31, 2023. She was born September 8, 1926 at the Falls City Hospital to Gus and Pearl (Duerfeldt) Fiene. Caroline was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church (Williamsville) southeast of Barada, NE.

Caroline attended 8 years of grade school at the District 23 brick school house located south of the church. She lived with her parents and siblings, Milton Glen Fiene and Luella Fiene Cummins one mile west of the church until her family moved from the farm in 1940 to Barada, NE. She attended one year of high school at Barada and the remaining three years at Falls City High School where she graduated in 1943. She then enrolled in college at Peru State College where she received her elementary teaching certificate. Caroline taught her first school at District 24, two miles south of Barada, known as the Arnold school. Followed by teaching two years at Barada and six years at District 1, known as Elmer Duerfeldt school.

Caroline married Eldro Wayne Sailors on December 23rd, 1945. They lived on a farm one mile south and half mile west of Barada. They were engaged in farming their land, dairy farming and raising livestock. They found much joy in attending flea markets, horse shows and sales and rodeos with their family.

Three children were born to them - Douglas Wayne in 1947, Leon Allan in 1951 and Diane Kay (Breisch) in 1957. Eldro passed away December 12, 1982. Caroline continued the dairy business for two years after his death until moving to her current residence at 1717 Nemaha Ave in Falls City. She was employed as a cook at the Falls City Hospital for several years until her marriage to Verl Dean Palmer on July 15, 1985. They enjoyed many years with family and friends at their property at Big Lake, MO. Dean passed away September 15, 2014. Caroline- most enjoyable times were spending time with her wonderful family. She also enjoyed time spent growing flowers, cooking and baking.

Caroline is survived by her son, Douglas and his wife Margie, daughter, Diane Breisch and her husband Greg, daughter-in-law, Cindy Sailors and her husband Kevin Kreifels, grandchildren, Scott (Emily) Sailors, Valerie (Blake) Buckminster, Kristi (Dan) Simon, Kim (Ryan) Nolte, Kelli (Art) Dean, Jessica (John) Neemann, Matt (Allie) McCann, great-grandchildren, Madison, Lexie and Preston Buckminster, Colton and Justin Reiss, Jax Simon, Chase and Jaden Nolte, Jessi and Emma Dean, Serenity, Alaina and Mia Grace Neemann, Marlena McCann. She was preceded in death by parents Gus and Pearl (Duerfeldt) Fiene, husbands Eldro Sailors and Verl Dean Palmer, son, Leon Sailors, granddaughter, Tammy Jo Sailors, brother, Milton Fiene, sister, Luella Cummins, nephew Robert Cummins and a niece Donna Cummins Cockerham.

Her memorial services will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Yount officiating. Internment will be in Harris Cemetery at Barada, NE.
