Michael Alan Cadue
Dishon Maple Chaney Mortuary in Horton
Lawrence, KS

Michael Alan Cadue, our strong, unwavering son, brother, and uncle, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 19, 2023, in Lawrence, Kansas, at the age of 45. Born in Holton, Kansas, Michael resided in Lawrence where he brought happiness and comfort to our family and neighbors.

Following the passing of our mother, Karen Cadue, Michael provided steadfast support to our father, Steve Cadue. Michael is survived by his father, Steve, and sisters, Michelle Cadue, Cheryl Cadue Middleton, and Carole Cadue-Blackwood (Dennis), his nieces Kara Wahnee Deiter (Chris), Jojo Blackwood, Georgia Blackwood and Karen Middleton, his nephews Owen Blackwood and Everett Middleton, his great-nephews Louis Deiter and Bronson Deiter and his great-niece Gabrielle Deiter.

Michael, a member of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas, graduated from Lawrence High School and attended Haskell Indian Nations University. A Jeopardy whiz, Michael found solace and exhilaration in riding his mountain bike and hiking. He also enjoyed coaching and watching sports. He passionately followed the New York Yankees and the University of Kansas Jayhawks. Beyond his personal pursuits, Michael was a pillar of strength for his family.

To his nieces and nephews, Michael was more than an uncle; he was a father figure who played an active role in their lives. He taught them essential life skills including how to ride a bike and coached them in baseball, basketball, football and soccer. His dedication to their growth and well-being was evident in the time and love he invested in each of them. Michael's presence at every family event, game, and scholastic achievement will be missed. His legacy of unconditional love, support and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of calling him family. His kindness also extended beyond our immediate family circle, as he was always ready to lend a helping hand to relatives and neighbors.

A Drum service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation. Burial will be on Saturday morning at the Mijissepe Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Karen Cadue Scholarship Fund, Haskell Foundation, 155 Indian Ave., #5109, Lawrence, KS 66046 or via PayPal: haskellfoundation.org/donate.
