Rudolph “Rudy” Michael Lehman, 79, of Sabetha, Kansas died on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Sabetha Community Hospital in Sabetha.

Rudy was born on June 10, 1944, at the family home outside of Bern, Kansas, to Edward and Leola (Locher) Lehman. He was one of six children born to this union. Rudy graduated from Morrill High School in the class of 1962. In 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany as a medic.

After Rudy was honorably discharged in 1968, he returned to the family farm, north of Sabetha. Later, Rudy took over the dairy operation with his brother, Kenneth, until he retired in 2007. Rudy was united in marriage to Linda Kanel on June 8, 1985, at the Trinity Church of the Brethren in Sabetha. In his spare time, Rudy volunteered for many hours at the Apostolic Christian Home, He also delivered many meals for the Meals on Wheels organization to residents in the Nemaha and Brown County communities.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, James Douglas McGuire; his twin grandsons, Chance and Levi Lowdermilk; and his daughter-in-law, Linda McGuire.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his son, Scott (Lacy) McGuire of Sabetha; his daughter, Amy (Matt) Lowdermilk of Fairview, Kansas; his nine grandchildren; his siblings, John (Carol) Lehman of Sabetha, Kathleen (Dennis) Osterhaus of Sabetha, Janice Lehman of Phoenix, Arizona, Mary (Elwin) Strahm of Sabetha, and Kenneth Lehman of Sabetha.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sabetha Methodist Church in Sabetha. A live stream of the service will be available on the Sabetha Methodist Church- Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SabethaMethodistChurch. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Sabetha Methodist Church. The interment will be made in the Morrill Cemetery in Morrill, Kansas with military honors conducted by the Sabetha VFW Post #7285. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, or the Morrill Alumni Scholarship Fund sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
