Raymond Leroy “Ray” Beatty, 77, of Holton, KS, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas City, KS. He was born January 1, 1947 in Topeka, KS, the son of Alvin Leroy “Bud” & Dorothy Mae (MacArthur) Beatty Burget.

Ray graduated from Holton High School in 1965. He worked for the City of Holton as a Meter Reader for over 33 years retiring in 2011. Ray was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army. He was a lifetime member of the Holton V.F.W. Post 1367.

He married Patricia Shupe in April, 1971 they later divorced. To this union they welcomed two children, Jenny & Shawn.

Ray married Darla Jo Robinson on August 15, 1981 in Holton, KS. They celebrated over 42 years of marriage.

Survivors include his wife, Darla of the home; a daughter, Jenny Daniel (Mike) of Holton, KS; a son, Shawn Beatty (Grethen) of Platte City, MO; 6 grandchildren, Sophie, Zach, Alec, Robin, Michael, and Richard; 2 great-grandchildren, Mila Ray, Oliver William, and one more on the way.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Leroy “Bud” and Dorothy Mae, and a sister, Linda Beatty.

Memorial Service with Military Honors will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2024 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Military Honors will be conducted by the Holton V.F.W. Post 1367.
