Nancy Jean Scherer, 81, of Atchison, KS died on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care, St. Joseph, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, at the Becker Dyer Stanton Funeral Home. Nancy was born on November 9, 1942, in Nortonville, KS, the daughter of Harold and Myrtle (Myers) King. She graduated from Nortonville High School in 1960. She worked as a sales associate at the Atchison Walmart for over 20 years. Nancy was a member of the St. Benedicts Parish, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, and watching the game show network. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was married to Norman B. Scherer on June 8, 1961, at St. Joseph- Church, Nortonville, KS. Mr. Scherer preceded her in death on Aug. 31, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Allan R. (Patty) Scherer, Lansing, KS, and Scott A. (Angela) Scherer, Atchison, KS., a brother, Richard King, Falls City, NE, and two sisters, Barbara Wolters, Atchison, KS and Debbie King, Hiawatha, KS, eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, a brothe,r Robert King and two sisters, Shirley Pantle and Elizabeth Bertels preceded her in death.
