Fred W. Brewer. 80, of Falls City, NE, passed away April 18, 2024 at Falls City. He was born July 11, 1943 at Falls City to Frank and Rowena (Kentopp) Brewer.

He married Dorothy Scholl on July 15, 1967 at Falls City.

Fred served in the Nebraska National Guard 134th Infantry Company B located in Falls City

Fred was raised east of Falls City and graduated Falls City High School in 1961 where he played on the undefeated 1960 football team and participated in track, band and FFA. He was the first person from Falls City awarded the Nebraska State Farmer State FFA Award. He then attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for 1 and a half years studying agriculture before coming back home and farming with his father where they were the first one in the area to use the chemical, Atrazine, that Fred learned about at college. He continued farming, with his sons eventually joining him. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he served on the Catholic Cemetery Board. He served on the School Board for one term in the early 80-, was a member of Falls City Elks and he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1971.

Fred is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Falls City, children, Scott and his wife Trish of Falls City, Michelle Becker and her husband Dennis of Seneca, KS, Nicole Brewer-McAfee of Falls City, daughter-in-law, Becky Brewer of Falls City, grandchildren, Sydney, Justin and Lexi Brewer, Jake, Erin, Seth and Kacy Brewer, Cecelia and Asa Becker, Trey and Kellen McAfee. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Mark.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Jim Meysenburg officiating. Interment will be in Falls City Catholic Cemetery.

A parish rosary will be recited on Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home and the family will receive friends following the rosary.
