Harriet Jean (Moore) Aldridge, age 86, of Atchison, KS, passed peacefully on April 18, 2024, at the Medicalodge of Atchison.

Her life will be celebrated and remembered with a funeral service on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Watkins as officiant. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Atchison Humane Society or Alzheimer- Association in care of the funeral home.

She was born on April 15, 1938, to Leonard Otto Moore and Emilie (Liepold) Moore in Atchison, KS. She attended Atchison High School and NEKA - Vocational Technical School.

She loved caring for others, and worked as an in-home attendant for several years. She also worked as an advocate for Dove- Women- Shelter.

Harriet had a love for bowling, bingo, fishing, gardening, cooking and mostly for her family. She was a “mom” to more than her own children. She, along with Charles helped so many others. And somehow always had enough food for anyone who came through the door.

She was married to Robert Burgoon and Samuel Hale previously. However, on November 18, 1977, she married the love of her life Charles L. Aldridge, who helped her raise her six children. Mr. Aldridge was devoted to Harriet until his death on November 6, 2020.

She leaves behind her six children; three sons, Robert “Bob” Burgoon, Atchison, KS, Gene (Solange) Burgoon, Lansing, KS, Samuel “Sammy” (Crystal) Hale, Atchison, KS, three daughters, Kimberly “Kim” Burgoon, Atchison, KS, Vickie Hale, Atchison, KS, Jeanette (Dale) Hale-Oden, Kearney, MO, a sister, Mary Lou (Pat) Cummins, Cummings, KS, seventeen grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Emilie Moore, husband, Charles Aldridge, a stillborn son, and three brothers, Robert Moore, Leonard “Sonny” Moore, Donald “Don” Moore and a very special great grandson, Victur Arthur Torres.
