Billie Esther Scott
Effingham , KS

Billie Esther Scott, 76, of Effingham, KS went to join our heavenly Father on August 27, 2012 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.  She was born September 12, 1935 Centralia, KS the daughter of Oscar and Blondena (Kugler) Buckles.

Billie graduated from Centralia High School in 1953. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in education from Emporia State Teachers College and her Master’s in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University. Billie taught in Nemaha Valley and Effingham school districts she also was an accounting instructor at the NEKA Vo-Tech School for 27 years before retiring in 1995.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kansas Vocational Assoc., American Vocational Assoc., Kansas Business Occupation Assoc., Pony Express Camping Assoc. and Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post #1367. She was on the National Business Professionals of American Board of Directors, contest chairman for state and national BPA and had been past president and treasurer of Project Concern.

On November 26, 1954, she married Elton “Gene’ Scott in Centralia, KS. He preceded her in death in 2001. To this union two children were born a son, Brian (Becky) Scott of Owasso, OK and a daughter, Pam Scott of Odessa, TX. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Jennifer (Lafe) Benson of Owensboro, KY, Ashley and Kyle Rippe of Odessa, TX; a sister, Mary (Bill) Patterson of Liberty, MO; an Aunt Billie Dye of Centralia, KS; numerous sister and brother-in-laws; nieces, nephews and her best friends, Patty Housh and Ken Mann.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Effingham Union Church. Interment will be in the Monrovia Cemetery in Effingham. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
