Johnny B. Ralston, 69, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at his residence.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. A visitation with the family will be Wednesday, beginning at 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be left to Salvation Army or Tunnels to Towers and may be left in care of the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Leavenworth National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. following the service.
Johnny was born June 25, 1955, in Atchison, Kansas the son of Roy Ralston, II, and Violet (Cash) Ralston. He attended elementary school and Atchison High School.
He and Patricia Ann Gering were united in marriage on April 24, 1982, at St. Benedict Church in Atchison, Kansas.
He served with the United States Army serving in Germany and Florida till his honorable discharge and later joined the Kansas National Guard for twenty plus years being deployed overseas three different times, once to Germany in 2002 then to Iraq in 2005 and then to Kosovo in 2008.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and fishing with his children. In his younger years he played pool on Atchison teams and was regarded as one of the best players they had seen. Johnny especially loved seeing and playing with his grandchildren.
He was a great cook and bar-b-que specialist for his family and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Breena.
Johnny worked for Hundley Construction in Atchison for many years and then joined KC/St. Louis Carpenters Union #110 for several years and finished his career as a gate entrance security guard at Iatan Power Plant until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #1175.
Survivors include his wife Patricia "Patty" Ralston, Atchison, KS; two sons, Joshua (Jessica J.) Ralston, Dodge City, KS; William (Brenna) Ralston, Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Jessica A. Ralston, Centerton, Arkansas; three brothers, Joe (Judy) Tarwater, Leavenworth, KS; Roy Ralston, III, Kansas City MO; and Charles T. Ralston, Hot Springs, AR; two sisters, Sharon Tarwater, Leavenworth, KS; and Becky (Scott) Howarth, Creston, IA; and two grandchildren, Samuel Ralston and Madison Ralston.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Ralston, II; his mother, Violet Ralston Cash and stepfather George Cash and a brother, Donald Harris.
