Robert “Bob” Lee Carpenter

Robert "Bob" Lee Carpenter, 78, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on October 13, 1946, in Humboldt, Nebraska. He was the 10th child and the 5th son born to LeRoy and Elverta (Rockemann) Carpenter. Bob received his education in Humboldt. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served 21 years until retirement. During his career, Bob was in Vietnam twice, was a Drill Instructor and Residential Drill Master, and retired as 1st Seargeant. In 1967, Bob was united in marriage to Lana Olson. To this union two children, Tina and Robert Jr. "Bobby" were born.

After his retirement from service, Bob was employed as a project manager building bridges for several companies. In 2018, Bob and Lana moved back to Humboldt, Nebraska from Swansboro, North Carolina. Even though he was supposed to be "retired", he helped his good friend John Slama with planting, harvesting, and whatever else needed done. Bob passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2024, in Swansboro, North Carolina having reached the earthly age of seventy-eight years, two months and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Olie and Betty Olson, siblings: Valjean (Alberta) Carpenter, Delores (Curt) Johnson, Donna (Dick) Hill, an infant brother Larry Carpenter, Leland "Bud" (Ruth) Carpenter, Patricia (Jim) Basino, and Barbara Carpenter, in-laws: Orville Deeke, LeRoy Bestwick, Jerry Olson, Lonnie Olson, and Betty Pruett.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Lana of Humboldt, NE; son Bobby Carpenter and wife Bev of Swansboro, NC; daughter Tina Carpenter of Swansboro, NC; grandchildren: Robert Lee Carpenter III and wife Maddie, Kristina Wheeler and husband Joseph, Ross Beamer and wife Kourtney, great-grandchildren Amelia Carpenter and Grayson Beamer, siblings: Harlan (Ruth Ann) Carpenter, Dorothy Deeke, Hazel Bestwick, sisters-in-law: Lola (Larry) Wilhelm, Lenora (Loren) Glathar, Ina (Kevin) Reddick, and Carol and Kathy Olson, brother-in-law David (Sandy) Olson, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Humboldt (North) Cemetery with Pastor Ken Tubbesing officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Marines Honor Guard.
