Dennis R. Thompson, 63, of Hiawatha, KS, passed away November 3rd, 2025, after a hard battle with cancer.

Dennis was the youngest of three children born to Edgar W. Thompson and Dorothy H. (Smith) Thompson on September 15, 1962, in Topeka, KS.

He grew up in St. Mary's, Kansas until the family moved to Hiawatha in 1976.
From 1980 to 1986, Dennis was a proud member of the Kansas Army National Guard. Being recognized in 1984 as soldier of the year.

Until declining health, Dennis has worked for Wenger Manufacturing in Sabetha for the last 5 years as a sand blaster. Prior to that, he worked for Crosswinds in Sabetha for 15 years in the quality assurance department.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Thompson (1987), and a brother Mike Thompson (2016).

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Thompson, Hiawatha, a sister, Kathy (Don) Lehmann of Olathe, KS, nephews, Craig Lehmann of Gardner, KS, Christopher Lehmann of Olathe, KS; two great-nephews: Paxton Lehman and Archer Lehmann, an uncle Dennis (Mary Jo) Smith, of Troy, KS, numerous cousins, and many good friends.

Services for Dennis are planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Troy, with military honors a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, after 10 a.m. Saturday.
