Lois Marshall
Holton , KS

 Lois Elizabeth Marshall, 98, of Holton, KS formerly of Fort Scott, KS passed away September 15, 2012 at Medicalodge Jackson County. She was born July 27, 1914 in Moran, KS the daughter of Floyd and Nellie (Caldwell) McCormack.

Lois graduated from Mildred High School in 1932, she received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas University in 1936 and her Master’s Degree from Pittsburg State University in 1938. Her teaching career began in western Kansas and continued in California, Guam and France while her husband served in the military. She retired in 1979 from Fort Scott Junior High after teaching at Fort Scott High School.

Lois was currently a member of the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton and was formerly a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Scott.   She was also a member of United Methodist Women, NEA, SEKAAP, VITA, AARP, Fort Scott Beacon, Fort Scott Historic Preservation Society, Meals on Wheels of Fort Scott and Fort Scott Garden Club. She was also a seasonal employee at Fort Scott National Historic Site and volunteered at the Fort Scott Library.

She married William Marshall in 1944 at Great Bend, KS. They were later divorced.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Janet Snively of Lubbock, TX, Llona Steele of Chicago, IL and Leota Marshall de Vazquez of Bayamon, Puerto Rico; 2 sons, Orin Marshall of Holton, KS and Alan Marshall of Pahrump, NV; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th at the Evangel United Methodist Church in Holton. Inurnment will be in the Kincaid City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Valley Falls UMYF c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
