Marjorie Maxine (Rudy) Hug, 91, of Holton, KS passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Lawrence surrounded by her family, watching her great-grandsons play soccer.

Marjorie was born August 14, 1922 in Soldier, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest Allen Rudy, Sr. and Elfa (Fisher) Rudy. She graduated from Holton High School in 1940 and attended Clarks Business School in Topeka. Marjorie worked for 15 years at Slimaker Dress Factory; then later worked alongside her husband as co-owner of Western Auto in Holton until they retired in 1992. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary #44 Mary Blair and the Holton Country Club.

Marjorie married Orville R. Hug on December 7, 1941 in Holton. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2010. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle Rudy and Ernest Rudy, Jr.

Survivors include a son, Alan R. Hug (Fran) of Topeka and a daughter, Janis A. Keen (James) of Holton; 5 grandchildren, Alan R. Hug, Jr. (Madeline), Susan E. Micka (Daniel), James Keen, Jr. (Lindsey), Jeremy Winkleman and Joshua Winkleman (Jill); 7 great-grandchildren, Sam, Zach and Jacob Micka, Lexi and Logan Keen, Ian Hug and Morgan Winkleman; and a brother, Keith Rudy of Dallas, TX. 

Marjorie was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and all sports, especially KU Basketball and KSU football. She rarely missed a sporting event that her kids or grandkids participated in.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Inurnment will follow in the Holton Cemetery.
