Donna Turpin
Atchison , KS

Donna Turpin, 82, of Atchison, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Atchison Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Hoover, Sugar Creek Christian Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Rushville, MO.  The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the funeral home.  Memorials in honor of Mrs. Turpin are suggested to the Sugar Creek Christian Church or the Sugar Lake Levee Association and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences to the family may be left online at

Donna was born November 20, 1929 in Rushville, MO the daughter of Howard William and Helen Margaret (Lawrence) Church.  She attended school in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School in 1946.  Donna received her Teaching Certificate from the Maryville Teacher’s College and taught in the one room Valley Chapel Grade School.  She also taught 3rd Grade at the Rushville Grade school and upon retirement, she continued to substitute teach and help her husband, Gerald, on the farm.  Donna enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles and she liked gardening, especially tending to her rose bushes.  She was extremely family oriented and loved taking care of her grandchildren. 

Donna married Gerald Eugene Turpin August 20, 1950 in Rushville.  He preceded her in death on October 1, 2009.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Howard Turpin and David Turpin.

Survivors include three daughters, Marla (Tim) Housh, Atchison; Rhonda Turpin, Atchison; Lisa Boldridge, Topeka, KS; 9 grandchildren, Jeremy Turpin, Aronn Boldridge, Amy Housh, Adam Housh, Austin Housh, Chez’ney Hunter, DeeAnn Turpin, Vanessa Turpin, David Turpin, Jr. and 6 great-grandchildren, Makyah, Ariona, and Aryah Boldridge, Avonté Housh-Battle, Ashlyn Housh and Alliyah Turpin
