Clara May Branson, 93, of Atchison, KS died Saturday, May 17th, 2014 at the Fremont Senior Living Facility, Springfield, MO in the company of two of her daughters.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rachel Danner officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm at the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, KS.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Clara was born on September 19, 1920 in Clyde, Kansas, the daughter of Frederick and Eva R. (Gunter) Kiefer. She graduated from Longford High School and received her normal training certificate which allowed her to teach for a short time in a rural school house. She spent most of her years as a housewife and volunteer. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as deaconess, she was active as a member of the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary, was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the Shepherd Center and volunteered to help with Meals on Wheels program, and was a Reach to Recovery, Breast Cancer Survivor Support Group member and volunteer.

She was married to George Branson on May 8, 1942 in Phoenix, AZ.  Mr. Branson preceded her in death on November 3, 1992.  Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Randy) Allison, Springfield, MO., Nancy Fowler, Albuquerque, NM, Katherine (Jack)
Watkins, Parsons, KS. and one son David (Carolyn) Branson, Lake Forest, CA., nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Her parents, husband George, a brother, Charles Kiefer, and son-in-law David Fowler preceded her in death.
